Serious Accident on Avondale - Do Not Pass!
The good news is that the reduction in car speed will make Avondale safer - unfortunately we also need to get drivers to pay attention to the “Do Not Pass” signs. PLEASE be careful when driving on Avondale especially when people are stopped to turn into the neighborhods. Here is an recent example of the devestating consequences when people are in just a little too much of a hurry.

Michelle, thanks for posting this warning. The neighbors near Avondale heard this accident and witnessed the severely injured being removed. It was very distressing to experience this. With the heavy traffic and speeds on Avondale, and absence of turn-lanes, we all have to be very diligent. We must especially warn the young drivers to watch their rear view mirrors when stopped or slowing to turn, and allow enough room to get out of the way when cars behind aren’t stopping. It’s also a danger to pedestrians and the students waiting at bus stops on Avondale. It’s important to keep the kids as far back as possible to increase safety.
